Undergraduate students at Princeton benefit from the extraordinary resources of a world-class research institution dedicated to undergraduate teaching. Princeton faculty have an unparalleled reputation for balancing excellence in their fields with a dedication to their students, through both classroom instruction and independent study advising.

Undergraduates fulfill general education requirements, choose among a wide variety of elective courses, and pursue departmental concentrations and interdisciplinary certificate programs. Required independent work is a hallmark of undergraduate education at Princeton. Students graduate with either the Bachelor of Arts (AB) or the Bachelor of Science (BSE) degree.

Academic advising often takes place within the College. Each student has a faculty adviser who is also a fellow of the College. The faculty advisers work closely with the Dean and Director of Studies, who provide additional advice about courses and programs and handle academic administrative matters. Appointments with the Dean or Assistant Dean can be made through the College Secretary.

Freshman Seminars allow interested students to explore specific topics in close collaboration with a faculty fellow of the College. Five or six seminars are given each term, carrying full course credit. Enrollment in seminars is by application.
