Welcome from the Forbes College Council

July 14, 2015

Dear Forbes Class of 2019,

Congratulations on becoming the newest members of the Forbes Family! You may not have realized it yet, but you are now a part of the best residential college at Princeton.

We can’t wait to have you and we hope you are as excited as we are to join us at Princeton. We know you’ve worked incredibly hard to get to where you are, now it’s time to enjoy it. As Forbesians, you have front row seats to sunsets over the grad college, cornhole in the backyard, and legendary Sunday brunch. Spend time relaxing on our lawn chairs or listening to your fellow students perform jazz music in the lobby. Whatever you love to do, you’ll find it at Forbes.

Now, other students may not understand how truly amazing Forbes is. Those in other residential colleges joke about our walk and how “far from everything” we are. Little do they know, this is a myth perpetuated by Forbesians to keep our home peaceful and uncrowded. Forbes is actually pretty close to just about everything. By bike everything is within 10 minutes and Wawa is only a minute away on foot. No other residential college has a backyard or has every amenity connected by tunnels. We live the high life at Forbes and most other people have no idea.

The best part of Forbes, building and myths aside, is the people. At Forbes you will find a family, from the administrators in the college office, to the staff in the dining hall, to your fellow Forbesians. Everyone wants your time at Princeton to be the time of your life. If you find yourself struggling in a class or unable to find a club or activity, the administrators in the college office have you covered. Say good morning to Stan or Chef Alex in the dining hall as they serve up a made to order omelet or fresh waffles. And, stop anyone, and we mean anyone, if you are lost or if you have a question. We are, as one of those famous musicals so eloquently puts it, all in this together.

We encourage you to come to us with any questions you have about any part of your new life here at Princeton. We know the process of matriculating can be scary, but just remember that you are about to start one of the greatest adventures of your life.

We can’t wait for you to join the family.

Best wishes and much love,

The Forbes College Council

P.S. No, but really, if you have questions email one of the FCC co-chairs, Brett or Patrick.
