Sonja A. Francis graduated from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine with a first class honours B.Sc. in Chemistry and Management in 2007. She earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Alberta in 2013 in Prof. Steven Bergens' group, where her research focused on the development of alkaline alcohol fuel-cell catalysts. Before joining the Chemistry department at Princeton, Dr. Francis was a Resnick Prize Postdoctoral Scholar at the California Institute of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Nate Lewis studying catalyst discovery for electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction to value-added products. She is now interested in pedagogical tools for Chemistry teaching and learning.
